    Zombie Apocalypse Announcement - 05.02.2012

    Story by John Moore

In the US, May has been declared National Zombie Awareness Month. We here at ZPN would like to take the opportunity to spread zombie apocalypse (ZA) awareness and to remind people to prepare.

Zombie Aftermath - When zombies come - be ready! The ZA is going to be awesome, but much more fun if you and your family live through it. Preparing for the horde also means you’ll be better prepared to face other emergencies and natural disasters.

For survival purposes, consider the magic number 4:

As a rule of thumb, human beings will die after:

    4 minutes without air
4 hours being exposed to extreme heat or cold
    4 days without water
    4 weeks without food

Of course this is a really generic rule of thumb and individual cases always vary, but use it to get your survival priorities in gear.

This should tell you that shelter / fire is going to be a primary concern followed by water. Food is important, but secondary.  Part way into hypothermia / heat -stroke, dehydration, or starvation – you will be operating at a severely diminished capacity.

Get your plans in order – learn how to build a shelter and fire. Learn how to purify water. Sart your food storage. Every home should have a “zombie kit” with supplies for when the grid goes down.
