Miami Police Name Ronald Poppo Victim of South Beach Zombie Attack
Zombie News - 05.30.2012The victim of the brutal zombie attack on Miami’s MacArthur Causeway, near South Beach, has been identified as 65 year old Ronald Poppo. Believed to be homeless, Poppo was beaten, stripped, then had significant portions of his face torn off in an attack by Rudy Eugene, 31.
The attack was only ended when police were force to kill Eugene with several shots (witnesses say as many as six). Poppo remains in critical condition in a Miami hospital.
The details of the case are bizarre and disturbing. Eugene, originally from Haiti, was naked and ignored orders by police to stop his attack. Even when initially shot, he seemed unfazed and pressed the attack.
Police originally theorized that the attack was the result of cocaine psychosis. Now they are theorizing that Eugene was under the influence of a synthetic drug like bath salts. All of this, however, is conjecture as an autopsy hasn’t been performed and no toxicology test results are in.
The mindlessly aggressive nature of the attack, combined with cannibalism, the attacker’s pain resistance and disregard for his own life have led us to label this a zombie attack (even if pharmacology is the root cause). This trend has now been picked up by mainstream media.
